Terry Grahl, Founder and President of Enchanted Makeovers,
Featured in National Documentary Recognizing Greatness
TAYLOR, MI — Terry Grahl, founder and president of the Michigan-based non-profit organization Enchanted Makeovers, has been selected as a national winner in the Nature Made® Fuel Your Greatness™ contest.
The contest ran earlier this year and was designed to find and commemorate tales of achievement that provide motivation and inspiration to others. During the contest, hundreds of individuals submitted their stories of personal greatness. Thirty semi-finalists, including Grahl, were selected to receive a $1,000 congratulatory award. Grahl and four other finalists were chosen to appear in Fuel Your Greatness™. The Documentary, which was posted on the Nature Made website at www.naturemade.com on Sept. 26.
The final selection process was led by a panel of experts who have achieved greatness in their respective fields. The panelists included fitness guru Denise Austin, lifestyle expert Michele Beschen, best-selling author Karen Salmansohn, and memory expert and current United States National Memory Champion Chester Santos.
“The expert panel used very specific criteria to evaluate all of the submissions. Each life story selected was evaluated based upon its ability to inspire others, the originality of personal growth, and translation of personal, creative expression that is aligned with Nature Made’s positive outlook on life,” said Josh Marder, senior brand manager at Nature Made.
Through Enchanted Makeovers, Grahl has organized stunning transformations at women’s and children’s shelters such as Grace Centers of Hope in Pontiac, Mich. (www.gracecentersofhope.org). She is currently working on Enchanted Makeovers’ 2009 Vision Project at Vista Maria (www.vistamaria.org), Michigan's largest private non-profit child welfare agency for girls and their families. As part of the Vision Project, bedrooms for the 11-year-old to 17-year-old girls living at Vista Maria’s Vision House will be made over into their very own “sacred havens.” Grahl has also begun work on a project at Newhouse in Kansas City, Mo. (www.newhouseshelter.org), a shelter dedicated to providing new beginnings to abused women and their children.
Grahl is thrilled to be a national winner in the Nature Made® contest. “This award is not about me personally—it’s about the goals I have for my organization and what we can achieve,” she said. “Outside of our minimal administrative costs, all of the funding we receive at Enchanted Makeovers goes into our shelter makeover projects and special events,” Grahl said. “With the help of our generous donors and awards such as Nature Made® Fuel Your Greatness™, we can continue to make a substantial impact on the lives of women and children in shelters while giving hope and inspiring others. I am grateful to Nature Made for giving me this opportunity to expand my outreach and share my story.”
